Newbury - Kennet & Avon Canal

Walk along the canal to the Marina and through the town toward the Lock and old Mill. Possible sunset photos on the water, if the weather is fine.

Beacon Hill

Pangbourne

Private visit to LAMBORGHINI Showroom, where the cars will be presented for photographs, followed by visits to St. James the Less, and on to Pangbourne Meadows. Afterwards to the Cross Keys for light refreshments if you wish.

Reading Mainline Railway Station - NOW THURSDAY 16th!

Enjoy taking pictures from inside the new station hopefully with the evening sunlight from the west through the glass stuctures. (Note - Maximum number 20 persons. First to email me after 9th of June, will be put on list in order of receipt).

Streatley

Walk around Streatley, visit Church yard and down to the River Bridge

The Bull on Wednesday has a 'Curry & Pint' night from 5.00pm. Approx £7.00 if you wish to partake before or after walk.

Wallingford

We first go to St. Leonard's church (the key has been made available) close to the Mill and Alms house. Then we make our way to St.Peter's (great spiral, close to the river) key available. Wallingford tourist office has supplied us with maps and audio information packs (to be returned on the night) so from there we can go our own way - perhaps. Meet at The George, High Street (close to the Lamb's Arcade) 9.00 ish. Weather optional.

Hartslock nature reserve

A walk from Goring to the BBOWT Nature Reserve, where possibly Orchids will still be in bloom...

...stunning views of the river Thames, walk back along the river and visit The Catherine Wheel at around 9pm

South Stoke to Moulsford Bridge & Back

Join Jon on his favourite walk to the Arched Bridge over the Thames at Moulsford (About a mile there & back with views over the Thames)

Pangbourne Team Photo Competition

At least two teams carrying only one pocket camera per team, identify and select one picture to suit every subject on a list. The teams will select the photos which will then be judged at the first meeting of the new season.

Dorchester on Thames

A stroll around the Abbey Grounds, and various locations of Midsomer Murders. Walk to Wittenham Lock and Roman Earthworks.

A stroll round Checkendon and the surrounding area with our knowledgeable Jon Scourse as the guide. Taking in the Church and including the Black Horse pub.

Summer Evening BBQ

Unfortunately Geoffery & Claire Borrowdale are unable to host the BBQ as originally planned.

With no volunteers offering to take it on, sadly it has been decided to cancel this popular annual event.

Pangbourne College & Grounds

An evening visit to this private school and grounds. Meet at 7:00pm for a vist of about an hour.

Unless you know the village well the best route is to approach via Pangbourne. Take the road up from St James' church, between the church and the white cottages, and signed to Upper Basildon. At the top of the hill the road levels and after a short distance the main entrance is sighted on the left. There is a long drive though a meadow. Follow the signs to the Falklands Chapel.

Bucklebury Park Farm

There are opportunities here to capture images of Red, Fallow, Axis, and Japanese Sika deer and other animals together with the beautiful landscape. Let's hope the weather is kind to us.

The Park usually closes at 6.00 pm and they have very kindly agreed to let us in and there will be a member of staff on hand to show us around. I do not think we will have to pay an entry fee but it would be good if we could all put something into a pot for the member of staff for his time with us.

There are brown tourist signs to the park and there is a map and full directions as to how to get there on the Farm website. We should all meet in the car park at 7.00 pm then all go together into the Park.

Donnington Village & Castle, Newbury - 7.30pm start

The aim of the evening is a wander around the lovely village of Donnington, and a circular walk of approximately one hour duration around the castle, where hopefully there will be some dramatic images of the castle against a sinking sun.

Before retiring to the Castle Pub for further photographic discussions.

"This is a family run pub with a good restaurant serving food from 6pm to 9pm. And serving 'Real Ales' for beer aficionados".

Wasing Park

Wasing Estate have agreed to host our meeting on 8th August. We will see the medieval barn, now converted to a conference centre, the new purpose-built wedding venue, the 15th century parish church, the walled garden and then take a walk around the lakes. More details. Afterwards the Hinds Head at Aldermaston beckons.

Burghfield Sailing Club

Wednesday night is Race Night. The lake will be filled with sailing dinghies, and with the on shore paraphernalia of boating there will be many opportunities for stunning pictures, also let's hope for a beautiful sunset over the lake.

Dependent on numbers there may even be the opportunity of taking to the water, if this does prove to be available, be prepared with alternative clothing.

The first floor club bar and balcony will be available for on-going discussions afterwards.

Meet between 6.45pm & 7.00pm at the parking area to the left, before the first gates at the end of the driveway.

Blewbury Church & Village

Visit the Historic Church of St Michael & All Angels and walk around the village. Terminate at the Red Lion Public House. Meet at the Church at 7.00pm.

Summer Evening Photo Competition

Attendees will be split into teams and use a compact camera to take photos matching topics provided on the night. Each team must hand in one compact camera and select just one photo for each topic which will be collated on a laptop in the pub afterwards. Photos will be judged by Alan on the opening night of the season.

Please meet at the Greys Road Car Park in Henley on Thames at 19.15. This car park is also referred to as Market Place as it is between both roads. There is no parking charge at that time of the day.

We will meet in the Catherine Wheel on Hart Street at 21.30 to collate and review the photos. We may also partake of some liquid refreshment.

Please bring a compact camera with you if you have one to make sure we have sufficient for the evening. Contact phone number for problems on the evening, Organiser - John Sexton
