Thank you for visiting our website. Here you will find full details of our Programme, a large selection of images from our members as well as a weekly blog report of our meetings. We meet at Whitchurch-on-Thames Village Hall every Wednesday evening at 8.00 pm from September to June and additional Practical Group Meetings take place on Thursday evenings.

The Whitchurch Hill Camera Club has been running for over 25 years, and with a membership of 80+ (and still growing) we believe that we are the biggest and best camera clubs in the Reading area of Berkshire. Our membership draws from many diverse backgrounds and age groups, including a strong female contingent. Whether you're interested in landscape photography, wildlife, still life, portraiture, sports photography or any of the other facets of this fascinating hobby, you will find them well represented at the W.H.C.C.

The club is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain and is a Member of the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs.

Weekly meetings

We hold weekly meetings at 8:00pm every Wednesday between September and June at the WHITCHURCH VILLAGE HALL. Our meetings feature photographic presentations, practical sessions, social events and competitions. Please have a look at our programme, and reports on previous meetings.

Field trips

During the summer months of July and August, we organise a popular series of field trips out and about in the Reading area when the opportunity is taken to visit local venues in a series of Field Trips. Locations are found to give the maximum potential for creative photography and technical help and guidance is freely given by experienced Club members.

Practical Photography Group

The Practical Photography Group is an informal group of members which sets out to help each other develop their photography and computer skills. There is no-one “in charge”, and sessions are led by individual members who are happy to demonstrate their skills and interests. Subjects covered are wide ranging, and aimed at a variety of skill levels.

We try to make every session a practical session, and members are encouraged to bring laptops and work on them during the sessions.

The Group meets throughout the season on selected Thursday evenings starting at 8.00pm (although it helps to arrive earlier, as the hall needs setting out), and cover a variety of topics; most are suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced photographers. Where appropriate, the group will split into two, and use the small room as well as the main room, enabling us to cover a particular topic at different levels.

The dates of the Group meetings are included within the main Programme.

Details of the subjects and areas covered in each meeting will be advised to all members by way of the Club Weekly Bulletin and announcements at weekly meetings prior to the Group meeting.

Membership of the Practical Photography Group is included within the Annual Subscription.

Club Weekly Bulletin

A weekly reminder is sent by e-mail to all members at the weekend relating to the next meeting in a few days time. In addition, this provides a very useful way of providing feedback on judges’ performance and also sharing information on special events or items of general interest.
