50 Years Of Printing From Wet To Dry

posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings

April started with a superb evening - a presentation by someone who’s visited us a lot over the past years as a presenter and (dare I say) a judge – Gordon Roberts. Such a shame that this was his final visit as he’s decided enough is enough!! (reckon we can all relate to that!)

So this evening was called ‘Fifty Years of Printing From Wet To Dry’ – and it did just what it said on the tin – with some extras!!

The first half of the evening was dedicated to his prints – starting with his earliest from the depths of the darkroom and progressing through to his later computer-printed ones. Some great work here – and so good to hear the backstories and learn of Gordon’s history as a photographer. We learnt of his progression in hardware too from his first camera – which he brought along! Reminded me of the equipment I started out with back in the ‘60s!!

In the second half Gordon shared his projected images with us – especially those taken in Switzerland where he spends a fair amount of time! Here we delighted in beautiful pictures of mountains and lakes – and learnt something of his life trekking and skiing through this wonderful scenery. Not only Switzerland though as Gordon is well travelled and so we were treated to great images of scenes and places both in the UK and overseas!

This was an evening thoroughly enjoyed by all. We wish you all the best Gordon and we’re all sorry that this was your last guest appearance here!
