Digital Competition No 1
posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings
11th October and our first ladder competition of the season. The excitement begins!
It was Digital Image Competition No.1. The subject – Open – so a nice wide range of subject matter to add to the excitement! And a new person in the hot seat too – Damon Guy who made the journey all the way downriver from the Marlow Camera Club (not sure if he paddled his own canoe though!).
So - as expected we were treated to some superb images on the screen. And yes – all sorts of subjects on show. There was landscape, natural history, portraiture, people and places – in fact you name it and it was there! Excellent image quality here too (but then there always is!). And Damon did a sterling job as judge – good, constructive comments all through which clearly illustrated his criteria for judging.
Finally, of course, there were the high scorers and winners ……… and here they are ……..
the first four coveted 20s of the year went to -
‘Red-Eyed Tree Frog Portrait’ by Danny Callcut; ‘No Chance’ by Nigel Glover-Wright – and then TWO by Ceri Jones – ‘New Forest Dawn’ and ‘Different Paths’!
So at the end of the evening - in third place was Danny Callcut with 38 points; runner-up was Nigel Glover-Wright with 39 points ………. and with a perfect 40 points the winner was Ceri Jones!
What an excellent evening to kick off our competitions for the year! Congratulations to the winners and high scorers – and indeed to all who submitted their images and gave us such a good evening. And of course thanks to Damon for making the journey here and giving us the benefit of his comments. See you again!
