I Did It My Way

Now that was really something different wasn’t it! I’m talking about last week’s meeting when we were visited by Colin Harrison FRPS FBPE FIPF MPAGB MFIAP EFIA/g MPSA – and you don’t gain a whole plethora of letters like that by not knowing a thing or two! He comes all the way from Cheltenham (probably not from the Ladies College or the racecourse though) where he belongs to the town’s camera club.
So what does he do? Well, besides being an excellent photographer, Colin is an expert at photo manipulation mainly, it would seem, using Photoshop together with Photomatix for HDR (other programs are available). Well, during the evening were treated to a superb variety of images. There were portraits – usually with the person in their environment. Wide angle lenses and the angle taken often gave prominence to the person and then post-processing added artistry and atmosphere. There were landscapes, some with a distinctly surreal feeling and often with textures and/or filtration added to give that extra dimension. Colin’s narrative throughout gave us a real insight into how his images are produced – and delivered to make the whole experience entertaining!
Don’t just take our word on how imaginatively excellent his work is – it’s internationally recognised as it is exhibited and wins awards globally!!
Just take a look at Colin’s website: http://www.colinharrisonphotographer.co.uk to see more of his work!
A superb and enjoyable evening Colin – loved your images, your expertise and your humour! We look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future!
