Digital Competition No 2 Landscape
posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings
So there we all were on 23rd Nov – a crowded house for the first digital competition with a set subject this season. Oh yes – the subject was ‘Landscapes’ – so plenty of scope there then! In the hot seat was Stan McCartin LRPS CPAGB – well known to club members as a regular judge.
A good array of images too – 56 in total – that’d keep Stan busy! It did too! He began by telling us what he believes constitutes a good landscape image so we knew exactly where he was coming from! The run through showed what excellent images we were to be treated to – some great creative use of light and a variety of interpretations of the subject. Stan as always gave detailed comments on each image, awarding marks ranging from 14 to 20.
Four images gained much-coveted 20 marks. They were ‘Barmouth’ by Tony Bates; ‘Salt Lagoon’ by John Sexton (which was also awarded the star; ‘A Cold Morning’ by Nigel Glover-Wright and ‘La Palma In The Mist’ by Roy Love.
So the final placings were as follows: (excitin’ eh?) in joint third place with 37 points were John Sexton and Ceri Jones – both scoring 37 points; in second place was Nigel Glover-Wright with 38 points ……….. and ….. wait for it ………. In first place Roy Love with 39 points!
Congratulations to the winners and those who gained 20s – and to all who entered this tough competition and gave us all such a superb evening.
Finally, many thanks to Stan for his judging and commentary! See you again later in the season!
