Digital Competition No 1
posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings
What a great evening’s viewing! Last Wednesday saw the first of our competitions for the season. It was projected images – and as per usual we kicked off with no set subject. These are always interesting ‘cos you get such a wide variety of photographs don’t you – and this was no exception! And who was the man in the hot seat - ie our judge for the evening? ……….. it was Jeff Lawrence CPAGB from the Bracknell Camera Club – and jolly good he was too!!
We were treated to every sort of subject – there were landscapes and cityscapes; architecture from churches to commercial and industrial - and there was water from canals to coast. All sorts of natural history too – everything from amorous lions to a toad! And of course the quality of the images was superb – a hard job for the judge then! But of course Jeff was well up to it, giving good, detailed and constructive comments on each picture - covering artistic prowess and technical expertise.
And now for the results ………
Who gained a coveted 20 points? Well, there were five: ‘Girls Having Fun’ by Melvyn Newman, ‘Sunset Boulevard’ by Dorothy Wood, ‘Lake Bled Island’ by Ceri Jones, and two from Nigel Glover-Wright – ‘The Day Of The Jackal’ and ‘I Said No!’
So at the end of the first round of the ladder comp we have the following as leaders: in third place with 38 points was Ian Nash; in joint second place were Dorothy Wood and Ceri Jones both with 39 points …. and in first place was Nigel GW with a perfect 40!
Congrats to the high scorers and winners but of course well done to all who entered images and gave us such a superb evening! Finally – thanks to Jeff who did a great job – then whilst making his escape discovered I’d parked right behind him so he couldn’t get out!!
