Digital Competition No 4

posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings

There we are - the last of the ladder competitions for this season! That's what we all came to see last Wednesday - and jolly good it was too! The man in the hot seat (stood up all evening actually) for this competition was Kevin Day making his second appearance at the club this season - so he must've been all right last time!! Projected images and an open round so no set subject - nice and challenging for the judge eh?

And what a stunning selection of images there were for us to feast our eyes on! Everything from architecture to landscapes; natural history to portraits and, of course - the artistic. Kevin did a superb job in discussing the merits of each image, looking at their technical and visual aspects. An indication of the quality of the photographs was in the number that he held back for a second viewing! Of course there were high scorers and winners at the end ..... so here they are ....

Who scored 20s? There were six of them: "The Basket Building" by Tilly Jamieson; "Morgan Aero 8" by Danny Callcut; "Touch Down" by Nigel Farmer; "Forest Dawn" by Ceri Jones and finally two - yes TWO - by Melvyn Newman - "Little Gems In A Pavement Crack" and "Lantern At Durdle Door". The star was awarded to "Touch Down".

And the winners were: in joint second place Ceri Jones and Nigel Farmer with 39 points - and the clever clogs amongst you will have spotted that, as Melvyn Newman amassed two 20s, - he came first with a perfect 40!! Well done to all - and thanks to everyone who entered their images, making this a really interesting and visually stunning evening.

NB: our youngest member scored TWO 18s - watch this space!!!!

And what did this do to the final ladder of projected images? Well - in third place was Danny Callcut with a total of 143 points throughout the season; in second place came Ceri Jones with 151 points ..... and the overall winner... Melvyn Newman with 152 points.. congratulations!
