6x4 Competition and Discussion Evening

posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings

First meeting in February - and our stalwart members gathered in the warmth of the village hall - it wasn't 'arf cold outside - for our annual 6 x 4 competition.

Simple idea which started in pre-digital days when we got our postcard-sized enprints from Boots (other shops are available). So - five 6 x 4 inch images on a piece of card - anonymously entered - numbered but not named and then all present giving each image a score out of 5 - so a possible total of 25 points per panel from each club member present.

With a good number of entries on show we examined each panel - and what a variety of subjects! Everything from church windows to birds of prey! At the end of the evening the winners were announced by our worthy chairman - they were: in third place with 648 points - Sylvia Blackmore; in second place with 674 points - Rachel Paton; and the winner - John Sexton scoring 756 points. Congratulations to all three and a big "thank you" to all who entered a panel and made this such a successful evening!

Mind you - that was only part of the evening 'cos after refreshments we held our annual discussion. Most importantly we decided on next season's set subjects for the ladder competition. Many varied ideas were put forward - all possible and interesting. These were eventually whittled down by a show of hands to the required two - so get ready to capture images of "Architecture" and "Reflections" - go on - out you go!!!
