Print Competition No 2
posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings
The second print comp of the season - and the subject - "A Beatles Song" - and there are over 200 to choose from - so a good selection then! Our judge for the evening - all the way from High Wycombe - "Aussie" Allan Thomson.
As expected there was a fair variety in the prints - and only a few were repeated! With the validity of subject carefully checked by the print comp team - let the judging commence! Allan certainly delved deep into each image looking at and commenting on its photographic merits. Particularly where he felt Photoshop could have been used, in his opinion, more effectively to enhance colour and detail (whilst commenting less on the suitability of the image to the subject). We were treated to some great images though - and creative interpretations of the theme!
And who got the coveted 20s? In the monochrome section there were two: "Happiness is a warm gun" by Nigel Farmer and "The Long and Winding Road" by Ceri Jones". In the colour section there were four! "I feel Fine" by John Sexton, "Here There and Everywhere" by Ivor Cowley, and two from Ceri - "Here Comes The Sun" and "Flying" (which also got a star!). Well done all!
The final top positions were as follows. In monochrome, Nigel Fenner came third with 35 points, in joint second place were Tilly Jamieson and Ceri Jones with 36 points, and in first place was Nigel Farmer with 39 points. In the colour section John Sexton came third with 37 points, Ivor Cowley was second with 39, and with a perfect 40 Ceri Jones came first!
A great evening - congratulations to all who took part - and especially to our high scorers!
