Print Competition No 3

posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings

D'you realise that this was the first week we've not trekked to Whitchurch on a Wednesday evening through a force ten gale? It was positively balmy (and no - I haven't substituted an l for an r!) - summer must have arrived!

We all came for the third print competition this season - and this time we were "On the Move". Our judge this evening - that lover of all things Hebridean - and all the way from Bracknell - Ruari Cumming. He had 32 images to comment on this evening - with the expected wide interpretation of the subject. With slightly less than the usual entries (thanks to the weather last week and lack of a bridge!) Ruari was able to give a good amount of consideration to each image and gave us his thoughts in detail. And finally we had it - the high scorers for this competition. There was one 20 scored in the monochrome competition - so congratulations to Tilly Jamieson for "Flying High" and also for scoring a total of 35 points, coming first jointly with Nigel farmer - who also scored 35. In third place came Nigel Fenner with a total of 33 points. In the colour print section there were two 20s - Nigel Farmer for "Skateboarding at the Southbank" and John Sexton for "Tiger Approaching". The winner if this section was Nigel with 39 points followed by John with 38 points and in joint third place with 33 points came Brian Jolley and Jon Scourse.

Congratulations to the high scorers - and indeed to everyone who entered and made it such a fascinating evening. Thanks also of course to Ruari for his thoughts and marking - and now we look forward to his next foray into the Hebrides!
