An Evening With Nigel and Neil

posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings

It never ceases to amaze me - and I dare say a few others - how so many of our esteemed club have come close to being eaten by oversized pussycats! This week's candidates for a feline feast were the two Ns - Nigel and Neil who took us into the heart of Africa: Nigel to the Serengeti and Neil to the Masai Mara to be exact.

During the evening we experienced the breathtaking landscapes of these areas - and above all, the wildlife. I can't possibly mention everything we saw, but as we were taken through the bush we were introduced to hyenas, jackals, giraffes, zebras, hippopotami and rhinos (should they be rhinoceri??). And then there were the birds: the well-named superb starling; the less than superb marabou stork; vultures (natures can-openers apparently); the secretary bird - and many others!

Then, of course, there were the cats: lions with their families; leopards (do they change their spots?) - oh - and did we gather that Nigel's favourite is the cheetah? Purrrrrrrr!!

A really great evening, guys - a superb view of big game photography and of the land itself through wonderful images.
