Digital Image Competition No 4 No Set Subject
posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings
This was it then - the last of the projected digital image competitions for this year's ladder - and with no set subject. The judge for this competition - Caroline Colgate who's already visited us this season to talk about her 365 project - so who would get the ring of confidence then? (dates me doesn't it - anyone else remember those ads?).
The run-through of images as the competition commenced showed not only the range of photographs with everything from landscapes to portraits and from wildlife to macro - but the excellent overall quality which would obviously make Caroline's job difficult! However, throughout the evening she gave carefully considered, detailed and helpful comments on each image - and still finished in time!
And which images scored the maximum of 20 points? They were: "Autumn Glory" by Brian Jolley; "Seeing the Light" by Tony Bates; "Take a Seat" by David Smith; "Dominance" by John Sexton and "Smile" by Nigel Farmer.
At the end of the evening three people shared third place: Nigel Farmer, John Sexton and David Smith all with 37 points. In second place came Tony Bates with 38 points and the winner was Brian Jolley with 39 points. The image judged as the best in the competition was "Seeing the Light" by Tony Bates. Well done to all!
Of course, this being the last in the season's ladder series of competitions, we now know the overall winners. Sharing third place with a grand total of 143 points are Brian Jolley and Nigel Farmer; in second place is Tony Bates with 144 points and in first place, David Smith with 148 points. Congratulations!
Finally, thanks to all who've entered images, not only for this but for all the ladder competitions - and thanks of course this evening to Caroline for her excellent judging.
