Digital Competition No 2 *Music*

posted by Ian Lewis in Club Meetings

Here we are - the second round of the ladder competition already! Doesn't time fly etc etc .... The theme - Music - and the judge none other than he of the lilting tones of Scotland (and the now not-so-new camera) Stan McCartin LRPS APAGB.

With this theme we could expect a wide range of imaginative interpretations - and that's exactly what we got! We were treated to some great images (but of course - this is Whitchurch Hill!) featuring musical instruments, people playing the said instruments (even statues playing them!), musical notation, vinyl and CDs. Stan did mention that he was looking forward to seeing any images of Scottish pipers - and was he disappointed? - not on your life - there was even a complete pipe band skirling away!! Stan, as usual, provided good. insightful comments mixed with his own brand of quiet humour making for an extremely enjoyable and entertaining evening.

Three people attained the dizzy heights of 20 marks. They were Brian Jolley's "Classic Ensemble", John Douglass's "Makin' Music" and Stephen Shadbolt's "Back in Five Minutes" Congratulations, guys! Overall, third place went jointly to Stephen Shadbolt, John Sexton and Eric Needs jointly scoring 35 points; second place went to Ian Lewis with 36 points and first place went to Brian Jolley, Ceri Jones and John Douglass who all scored a superb 38 points!

What a good evening! Thanks to everybody who submitted images and thanks too to Stan for his expertise in judging (hope the camera's doing well - you didn't mention it!).
