This evening crowds flocked into Whitchurch for a major event in the year - the SELECTION EVENING - the moment when our very own club members choose the images to be entered in external competitions.

This meant that some of the very best images from the previous season, together with a sprinkling of new ones, were presented to our discerning members. As we saw the prints displayed at the front of the hall, we all knew we were in for a difficult task as the photographs were, not surprisingly, of a very high standard! (this is Whitchurch Hill Club of course!!). Added to this we all had to think like competition judges (and we've met a fair few of those in our time, haven't we - especially in "outside" competitions!). So we each had to choose 15 prints and 15 projected images after which, from a show of hands, the highest scoring 20-odd images would be the ones to represent the Club (Phew! That's the most detailed thing l'lI write all year!!).

Well - we all enthusiastically did our corporate duty - chose our images (not without a great deal of soul-searching I might add!) - and the votes for each photograph were duly counted by both our esteemed Chairman and our equally esteemed Treasurer (was gratified to see that the Treasurer can count, by the way!).

I can't possibly record the details of all the images finally selected - we would probably run out of website and Danny'd have to create a new one! So here are the three highest scoring images in each section. In the prints they were: "Mountain Lion", "Siberian Tiger" and "Loch Etive", whilst in the projected images they were: "That's Me Done", "Basildon at Dawn" and "Grey Wolves".

Hearty congratulations to the authors of the 21 projected images and 19 prints finally selected and many thanks to all those who entered such excellent images for consideration. Looks like we're going to be a formidable force in the coming year!!
